The Top Celebrity Couture Wedding Dresses of 2011   by Tatiana Porembova

2011 was a particularly notable year if you’re a fan of celebrity weddings. There has been plenty of style on show when it comes to couture wedding dresses and jewellery in 2011, and it’s definitely worth a look back at the high-profile weddings of the year to get an insight into what styles 2012 may reveal.

Vanessa Millinno

When singer Nick Lachey exchanged wedding vows with Vanessa Millinno, those watching on television’s ‘Nick and Vanessa’s Dream Wedding’ were treated to the first sight of Vanessa’s stunning two-piece outfit. With a bodice exquisitely detailed with crystal pieces, it was definitely a stand-out among the couture wedding dresses of 2011.

Kate Moss

Over the duration of her long fashion Career, Kate Moss has donned more than her share of amazing designs; but her choice of couture wedding dresses seemed utterly inspired. Kate chose a regal John Galliano creation heavily influenced by the style of the 1920’s, during a ceremony that drew celebrity guests such as Kelly Osbourne, Jude Law, Sadie Frost and Stella McCartney. The retro theme of the bride included rhinestones and golden embroidered leaves on the cream-coloured gown. It was certainly one of the more unique and personalised dresses of 2011.

Charlene Wittstock

The wedding of Charlene Wittstock to Monaco’s Prince Albert II was definitely a regal affair – and Charlene certainly looked every inch a princess in her Giorgio Armani Prive gown. The red carpet was laid out in Monaco’s royal palace to allow the gorgeous bride to walk out from the ceremony as Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene. Her dress took a total of 2,500 hours to create, and was fashioned of off-white silk duchesse satin and silk organza accented with 40,000 Swarovski crystals and 20,000 mother of pearl teardrops.

Lauren Bush

You definitely need the very best of couture wedding dresses when you’re marrying into a design dynasty, and Lauren Bush’s wedding to David Lauren (son of fashion goliath Ralph Lauren) was a nod to nostalgia, with the bride’s (you guessed it) Ralph Lauren gown. The dress took over 100 craftspeople more than 3,000 hours to complete.

Kate Middleton

Of course, no retrospective would be complete without looking at Kate Middleton’s oft-discussed dress! One of the most timeless and classical wedding gowns of 2011, the dress was created from ivory and white satin gazar. The highlights of the design included Leavers lace from French lace-maker Sophie Halette, and a Cartier Halo tiara borrowed from Queen Elizabeth II.
